A Warm Welcome from the Team
Thank you for the opportunity to present our proposal for Auckland, New Zealand, to be host city for 18WCEE in 2025. We look forward to welcoming delegates to a region where city style, beautiful landscapes and first-rate facilities come together.
New Zealand is a hub of Earthquake Engineering Science and know-how. The country has played important roles in many significant developments in the field – come and observe innovative science being put into practice.
New Zealand in general is a dream destination and there are huge opportunities for our guests to engage in a wide diversity of pre and post-conference tours throughout New Zealand. What are you waiting for?
High Level Support & Experienced Team
This bid has strong support from the very top level starting with our Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Jacinda Ardern to a range of organisations throughout New Zealand.
Auckland has an impressive track record of securing & hosting successful conferences & business events. In 2019 the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) ranked Auckland 3rd in Australasia for the number of business events hosted.
The New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering is experienced in organising large conferences. The association holds a successful annual conference that attracts 400 delegates. In 2000, some 20 years ago, the association hosted 12WCEE which was attended by over 2,000 delegates. The New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering is in a strong financial position with an annual turn-over of approximately NZD $600,000. We are committed to delivering the best possible WCEE yet! We have already secured close to USD100,000 in pre event sponsorship and have further commitment of support from various organisations.

About the Host Organisation
The New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE) was established in 1968. The NZSEE has since been a very active organisation promoting earthquake engineering research and practice.
The Society currently has approximately 800 members in New Zealand and overseas. It works closely with many companies, organisations and government departments, and is responsible for providing leadership in managing seismic risk in New Zealand.
The NZSEE is a truly international society with around 15% of its membership being overseas members. The NZSEE has a memorandum of understanding with the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) and the Australian Society for Earthquake Engineering. It has jointly mounted ‘learning for earthquake missions’ and produce publications with our international partners. NZSEE members are also active participants in many international earthquake engineering projects such as the World Housing Encyclopedia, DesignSafe-CI (formerly NEES) and Global Earthquake Model (GEM).
