Your Host City, Auckland

Kia Ora, Welcome to Auckland

Thank you for the opportunity to present a proposal for Auckland, New Zealand, to be host city for 18WCEE. We look forward to welcoming your delegates to a region where big city style, beautiful landscapes and first‑rate facilities come together.

Inspired choice

As New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland is the country’s financial and economic powerhouse, and the gateway to the rest of the country. The modern city centre is surrounded by sparkling harbours, native forest, beautiful beaches and scenic wine regions.

Confident choice

Auckland has a strong track record of hosting seamless and memorable business events involving local and central governments, global and national organisations, and the private sector.

If Auckland is chosen to host 18WCEE, a wide range of Auckland and New Zealand promotional materials will be made available for use in marketing activity to encourage delegates to come to New Zealand and to save the date for 2025.

Impressive choice

Auckland is home to a wide range of world‑class convention and accommodation choices, from large facilities to boutique options. Most of the main convention centres are a short walk from popular attractions and the city has a myriad of transport options.

Easy choice

Auckland is easily accessible from overseas, with a modern, efficient international airport. Residents from 60 countries around the world do not need to apply for a visa into New Zealand.

Smart choice

Auckland is a thriving high‑tech hub of the Asia‑Pacific region, home to more than 20,000 innovation‑based companies. Auckland Convention Bureau can access experts across business, industry, tertiary and research institutions, making the city the perfect choice for international delegates to connect and collaborate.

A world of choice

Auckland’s Polynesian flavour—including its unique Māori culture—is a major attraction for international visitors; and an abundance of activities and adventures on Auckland’s doorstep will excite your delegates.

Visa Information

Having the right passport and visa organised is the key to a trouble-free entry for delegates into New Zealand.

New Zealand’s immigration requirements

We enjoy welcoming visitors to New Zealand and we’d like to think that when you come here, you have an experience to remember—but for the right reasons. So if you’re coming to New Zealand, it’s a good idea to make sure you have everything ready. When you arrive in New Zealand, you’ll need to be carrying a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure date. Some visitors and transit passengers can travel to New Zealand without a visa if they get an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) before they travel.

Things to note about NZeTA:

  • If you are from a visa waiver country you must hold an NZeTA before you travel.
  • Allow up to 72 hours for processing, but it could take as little as 10 minutes.
  • An NZeTA request costs NZD $9 on our free app, or NZD $12 if completed online.
  • You pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) at the same time as your NZeTA. This costs NZD $35.
  • Once you have requested an NZeTA you can check its status.

For more information about NZeTA visit www.immigration.govt.nz
